In our search for the perfect Leather iPad Case we’ve looked at a number of stylish and affordable options, and this one is no exception, The Targus Hughes is a very nice iPad slipcase, and it has certainly grabbed our attention.
Key features we love about this iPad case:
It’s very elegant, and lets you transport your iPad in style, no matter whether you are heading to a business meeting, or for a weekend away.
It’s made of very high quality, natural leather (we know it’s natural because it has that wonderful leathery smell) and the color is close to, but does not exactly match the retailers pictures. This is to be expected with fine, natural leather products, color and texture will vary with each item. It’s part of the case’s uniqueness, and we love this about it.
It has a decent amount of padding, so we felt our precious iPad was quite safe when it was stored inside.
A nifty magnetic catch that lets you open and close the case with ease – not fiddly to use. The iPad is easy to access.
It should be noted that this case is like a protective envelope, and you must remove the iPad from it to use it, so your iPad will be “naked” while in use. The case provides a near perfect fit for the iPad, we like this because it’s snug and can’t rattle around. But it also means you cannot have any sort of bulky second case over your iPad, unless it is very thin. Some people like to put a silicone style case, such as a Gelli skin, over their iPad so it is still protected while in use. If you want to use a second protective case then make sure it is very slimline.
Targus Leather iPad Slipcase - Open for Business
The Targus Hughes is a really nice case and one of my personal favorites. It is sophisticated, yet also understated. It protects with style and feels like it will last the distance. In fact, I’m pretty sure this case will be holding my next iPad when the current one is old technology.
If you love it as much as we do, and want to get your hands on it now, then you can grab one from Amazon. If you are not sold yet then carry on reading.
If you are planning to buy a folio style case for business meetings then we think the Targus Hughes is one of the best solutions to protect your favorite gadget, and at the same time help you create a good first impression with your audience. Choosing a fine leather iPad case can definitely help, as leather is widely recognized as a symbol of elegance and sophistication. This is one of those accessories that we fell in love with at first sight. The excellent quality oil-tanned premium leather, the rounded edges and the decorative stitches recommend this portfolio case for all situations that call for elegance and refinement. The Targus logo is discretely embossed in the leather and is placed in the center of the front side, creating a very nice visual effect. The interior of the case is made from soft twill lining which effectively protects the iPad against scratches when you slip it inside or when you take it out. The lining comes in a darker shade of brown than the exterior leather, thus creating a pleasant contrast.
Most folio cases would also feature a few additional pockets for storing business cards or a few paper notes. The Targus Hughes Leather iPad case is no exception. It has three slim interior pockets, two of them resulting from the leather fold itself and the third one cut into the lining. The case is specifically designed for the iPad and it features a secure magnetic closure, so your iPad will be safe throughout your travels. As there are no openings for any of the ports, this slipcase is also a good barrier against dust and other small particles that might damage your iPad.
The Targus iPad leather case is available on Amazon for a bit over $50 and is eligible for free shipping with the Super Saving Shipping program. Gift-wrap is also available on demand.
UPDATE: This case is currently sold out in brown, but is available in red at Amazon.
If you, or your partner, already has a collection of bags, then you probably don’t want to buy another one for your iPad. Perhaps instead you would rather invest in an exquisite case. Well now you can have both! Take a closer look at this beautiful iPad bag and case in one, from Simplism Leather Collection.
The case features a detachable strap that allows you to also wear it as a shoulder bag. It offers the protection and functionality of a case, combined with the convenience of a shoulder bag, and all this with an exquisite elegance that really stands out in the crowd.
The high quality, luxurious Chocolate black leather is stitched around the edges with a feature thread that adds a touch of elegance. The removable shoulder strap attaches to the case with beautifully finished, silver coated hardware. The length of the strap can be adjusted between 71cm and 138cm, so you can wear the case on your shoulder or around your neck, depending on preference.
Detail View - Simplism Leather Bag/Case
Although it looks very slim and stylish, the Simplism iPad Shoulder Case provides solid protection; thanks to its back cushioning, and to its hidden plates that act as shock absorbers, keeping the iPad securely protected. The plates are cleverly designed to be bigger than the iPad, providing protection even to the corners of your iPad, which are the most sensitive parts in the event of an accidental drop.
Also available in red
All ports on the iPad are accessible without needing to remove it from the case. The speaker is also uncovered, a very nice feature if you enjoy listening to music on your iPad. The comfort goes even further, with the flap that opens 180 degree wide, thus allowing you to use the iPad while it is still safe inside the case.
If you want to be among the first lucky owners of an iPad Shoulder Case from the Simplism Leather Collection, you can pre-order it on Amazon for $59.99. It ships for free with the Super Saver Shipping program, and is also available in beautiful, deep >red leather.

If premium gadgets call for premium accessories, then the new Apple iPad surely deserves the best. I hate to compromise, and personally refuse to buy average quality cases, sleeves or bags. When I go looking for a premium case I look for the ultimate material that has style and durability: leather. So I set out to find a smooth, genuine leather case that would make my iPad proud to be owned by me, and preferably one that would not hurt the wallet! At least no too much, leather is never cheap.
So I was very pleased then when I found The Walkabout. This top-opening, leather iPad folio case has been carefully designed to offer your iPad smooth, elegant and hard wearing protection. One thing people sometimes forget is that a roughly made case can actually scratch and damage a device. However, the premium genuine tan leather used in The Walkabout construction is so soft that it’s really hard to stop wanting to touch it again and again. Although the case offers a snug fit, I also found it very easy to slide the iPad in and out without any risk of scratching, thanks to the softness of the leather.
The Walkabout - Leather iPad Case - Open
The Walkabout is a folio style case, designed only for storing your iPad while in transit. It doesn’t have any openings corresponding with the ports on your device. However, taking the iPad out of its case is easy, thanks to the ingenious magnetic fastening system. In order to not impinge on the simple beauty of this case, the magnets are embedded in the top flap, thus keeping the case tightly secured but easy to unfold. For the price of $79.99 you can call one of these cases yours. It’s not cheap, but we found it reasonable taking into consideration the high quality leather The Walkabout is made from, and the very good experience we’ve had with Case-Mate products being made to last.
Like all other iPad cases from Case-Mate, The Walkabout comes with a 90 day limited warranty. For a limited time, Case-Mate offers free standard shipping, so check it out now to see if it applies for your area of residence.
Remember, it’s always a good idea to get screen protection. The Walkabout, like many iPad cases, is designed to protect your iPad when you are not using it. However, the moment you take it out, there is always a chance you could get a scratch. Our recommendation for truly invisible, yet powerful screen protection is either the InvisibleSHIELD iPad screen protector by ZAGG, or Case Armor by Case-Mate. Either of these two protective films does a great job keeping your iPad scratch free.
In life we strive to be unique, our individuality is the coolest thing, and it’s what we take pride in.
But how can we be unique and individual with our iPads, when everybody else who bought one got absolutely the same thing! The answer lies in a smart choice of accessories, cases and skins being the best example of how we can differentiate ourselves amongst the masses of iPad owners.
Here are two very original designs that we fell in love with at first sight. The iPadGelli Kaleidoscope and the iPadGelli Checkmate. The difference between the two resides in the design pattern and in the available colors, all other features being common. All iPad Gelli cases are made of the same high performing, flexible thermoplastic material which is light and soft, yet resilient. These cutting-edge properties allowed this material to be shaped into a very thin, translucent case that’s fully protective for your iPad, and funky to look at.
The Gelli case offers a tight fit, yet it’s very easy to put on and to remove, thanks to its excellent flexibility. Although the material is in itself resistant to water, this does not make your iPad waterproof, as the case leaves open access to the touch screen and to the side ports. Speaking of the screen, if you want complete protection, you may want to consider buying a protective film. Two of the best iPad screen protectors on the market are Clear Armor from Case-Mate and the InvisibleSHIELD from ZAGG.
iPad Gelli Cases
The iPad Gelli Kaleidoscope cases are available in three color options: Pink, Tomato and Aurora, all three in an eye-catching glossy finish and featuring a subtle circle design. The iPad Gelli Checkmate cases have the same look and feel, less the circles which are now replaced with triangles, but their colors are in a colder palette: Gray, Blue and Green.
All iPad Gelli cases come with Case-Mates 90 day limited warranty, fully covering any defects in the material or production faults.
If protection is good, then triple protection is three times better. For tough people who want to be gentle with their gadgets, the Incipio Destroyer Overkill is the ultra protective iPad case featuring three defense layers for the ultimate protection against drops, bumps and scratches.
The first defense layer is a silicone gel shock absorbing skin which secures the iPad in place, and which attenuates shocks.
The second defense layer is made from Zytel, a hi-impact military grade nylon which is almost impossible to scratch, did I also mention it’s bulletproof?
The third layer of protection targets the corners of your iPad and it consists of two CNC machined billet aluminum side rails which can resist any accidental bumps or drops.
Incipio Destroyer Overkill iPad Case
These three layers work together as a whole to turn your fragile iPad into an almost invincible machine, ready to serve you even in the toughest environmental conditions. Well, we haven’t tried it in a hurricane’s eye yet, nor did we attempt to review its behavior at the North Pole, but we can assure you it looks quite strong. It’s probably the toughest and the most masculine iPad case ever invented.
The Incipio Destroyer Overkill is designed to perfectly fit the iPad contour. This makes it look slim and elegant, despite the high level of protection it provides. It allows access to all ports and controls, so you can put it on your iPad and forget about it, no matter what other accessories you may want to use. This iPad case is comfortable protection at your fingertips. Take your iPad and go forth onto the battlefield! At least we can guarantee that your iPad will survive!
If you are looking for a slightly cheaper but very protective case then the Hybrid Tough Case might also interest you.

As we are proud to be the premiere destination for iPad accessories, we decided to take a look at several such cases for you. Here they are, below, organized according to their destination. Some of them may have not been released yet, but they are available for pre-order and will be shipped to you when they arrive.
Permanent iPad Cases
By permanent we don’t mean that once you put the case on your iPad you can never take it off again. Permanent cases are the ones that allow you to use your iPad without having to take it out of the case.

Such iPad covers are supposed to protect your device only during transportation or storage when not in use. To actually use the iPad, you need to take it out of the case. Travel cases and sleeves are the best if you want to enjoy your iPad naked, as it was when you took it out of its box.
Black Mivizu iPad Case
Mivizu Apple iPad Neoprene Cover
This Mivizu iPad sleeve is made of neoprene, a material that stretches to accommodate its content while offering a very good protection. The sleeve features a dual rubber zipper which enables quick access and a zippered front pouch for storing other iPad accessories such as cables, ear buds or a power adapter. Neoprene is an extremely light material, making the case suitable for people who travel intensively. If desired, it is possible to work on your iPad without taking it out of the sleeve, thanks to the elastic strap holder that keeps the device in place.
Mivizu iPad neoprene sleeves are available in black, pink, red, blue and green. The price varies with the color, but no matter what option you choose is less than $12 at Amazon.
CaseCrown Double Memory Foam Neoprene iPad Sleeve Case
Neoprene Netbook Sleeve Case (Pink)
This sleeve case is made from durable neoprene which provides effective protection for your iPad against scratches, dust or accidental drops. What we found the most interesting in this iPad protection cover was the premium shock absorbing memory foam which can attenuate even stronger shocks, thus protecting the device against mechanical damage. The case is nicely constructed, although it’s an idea too big compared to the iPad size. However, if you need a bit of extra room for some accessories, you may find this in your advantage.
Lightweight and ultraslim, the CaseCrown Double Memory Foam Neoprene iPad sleeve features dual zippers for easier access, thus being ideal for carrying your iPad with you anywhere all day long. It’s only $15.92 at Amazon, and it comes in four color options: pink, red, blue and black.
Scratch Defense Neoprene Sleeve for the Apple iPad
Scratch Defense Neoprene Sleeve - iPad Case
If you want a case to snugly protect your iPad from scratches and to cost you less than $20, you can consider this Scratch Defense Neoprene sleeve as a very viable option.
The form-fitting neoprene material has good shock absorbing properties and the sueded internal lining provides a cushion to keep the device safe inside. The sleeve is weather-resistant, thanks to the multiple threaded neoprene layer. The zippered front pocket can accommodate a few other accessories, so you can have everything you need at hand, when you need it.
As you can see, one doesn’t have to spend a fortune on accessories for enjoying a great iPad experience. If you’re rather the frugal style, go for one of these cheaper options, as you have nothing to lose: all of them offer great protection for your iPad. Although they don’t look and feel as exquisite as the premium leather cases that cost 10 times as much, we much confess that we found them pretty attractive and elegant, good go-anywhere solutions to keep your iPad looking new for a very long time. You can find this case at Amazon.com
How many times have you bought a product, and then thought to yourself “I could have designed this better if I had the chance!”
This thought is even more frequent when it comes to the accessories we buy, especially when we notice afterwards that they either don’t fit well, make our original item look dull, or inhibit the use of our much loved gadget.
However, we still need accessories for products like the new Apple iPad. Apple’s new tablet computer is just great, but it comes without a case to protect it, leaving us at the mercy of iPad accessories manufacturers, who may or may not invest enough money and time in asking consumers what features they’d like to see in their products.
Cloak Undercover: an iPad Case Designed by Your Next Door Neighbor (And You!)
Cloak Case - Front/Back View
Cloak Undercover is not just an ordinary iPad case. Not only has it been designed with the consumer in mind, but it has been designed by an actual iPad user, and its features have been influenced by many other ordinary people just like you and me, who had the chance to give their vote for what they wanted to find in their iPad case. This was possible thanks to Quirky, an innovative site that helps ordinary people bring their product ideas to life with the help of a community of users who choose to involve themselves in all stages of the production process. The result? Great products based on genius ideas, products that you won’t find anywhere else.
Cloak Undercover is one of these creations. It’s a sleek yet sturdy protection case for your iPad made from non-slip rubber and featuring a sturdy friction grip.
The "Cloak" Case - From Quirky
Thanks to an ingenious idea of a support brace located on the inside cover, Cloak Undercover can be easily adapted for portrait or landscape use of the iPad. When used in the landscape mode, the viewing angle can be adjusted thanks to a button on the hinge. There are several preset angles and the case is locked into the desired position by a simple click mechanism.
Sleek, and resembling an office folder, Cloak provides open access to all ports on your iPad, so you don’t need to take it off when using the it with your iPad accessories. The Cloak is available on Quirky’s website.
One of the most appealing features of the iPad is its portability. If you are using your iPad while traveling, either for business meetings or to showcase your creative portfolio, then you will need a case that allows you to not only keep your iPad protected, but will also let you present it in style while keeping essential items at hand such as business cards, pens and good old-fashioned paper documents.
The Traveler from Case-Mate is a high quality iPad case made from real felt and leather. It’s a great looking folio style case, featuring storage pockets and a magnetic strip closure to keep your iPad secure.
Unlike other travel cases, The Traveler firmly secures your iPad, but leaves the screen uncovered. This is very convenient as you don’t need to take the iPad out of the folio case to present your ideas. The iPad pocket is carefully designed to offer a snug and secure fit, without damaging or scratching the iPad’s surface. The Traveler is made by Case-Mate, already well-known for the quality of their products, and like all Case-Mate cases, the iPad folio comes with a 90 day warranty. Overall we were impressed with the quality of the case construction and the materials used – very good value for money.
Folio iPad Case
We think The Traveler is great design, and protects almost every aspect of your iPad in style! We would only recommend people purchasing this smart folio case also consider the additional protection and peace of mind of a thin film screen protector, such as the Invisible Shield from ZAGG, or Case-Mate’s own Clear Armor protection. Both are quality products, and an essential accessory in our opinion if you want to care for, and extend the life of your iPad. It’s important when selecting a screen protector to purchase one made of quality protective film – don’t skimp and buy one of the cheapies, get the best screen protection money can buy. You, and your iPad, will appreciate it in the long run.
One small inconvenience is that your iPad will still need to be removed from the case to be docked. However, even the original case from Apple doesn’t permit docking. We don’t think this is a big deal, and it’s reasonably easy to slide the iPad out of the snug pocket when you want to dock it.
In summary, people who need to take their iPad into meetings will find a portfolio-style case a lot more convenient than a sleeve case, the latter being more suitable for transportation, and lacking the great support The Traveler provides, while allowing you to present in a professional manner. In our opinion The Traveler is one of the best solutions if you need to combine professional presentation with functional style. It’s a sleek yet elegant, premium business folio case. This case is manufactured and sold by Case Mate.
